Aidova was designed through conversations with families, carers and therapists. Their feedback shaped every feature.
"Can it work offline? We can't always rely on Wi-Fi at school or in the car."
"Can I record my own voice? A computer voice doesn't feel right for my child."
"Does it work for adults? My husband had a stroke and everything else looks like a children's app."
Most communication apps were built for therapy rooms. Aidova was built for real life.
Aidova was designed with input from families, carers, teachers and therapists. If you work with people who find communication difficult, we'd love to hear from you.

Aidova began with a child who didn't always have the words to say what they needed.
I watched the people around them try their best to understand. Sometimes it was obvious. Often it wasn't.
The hardest moments weren't the big ones. They were the everyday moments most of us take for granted.
Wanting a drink.
Feeling scared.
Needing help.
Asking for a hug.
Saying "I'm tired."
Saying "I love you."
Simple things that should be easy to say, but sometimes couldn't be.
Like many families, they tried different communication tools. Some relied on physical cards that got lost or left behind. Some apps felt complicated, expensive, or tied to a single device. Many seemed designed for clinics and therapy rooms rather than kitchens, playgrounds, classrooms, cars, and everyday life.
What stood out most wasn't the technology. It was the frustration.
The frustration of having something important to say and not being able to say it.
The frustration of the people who cared deeply and wanted to help, but couldn't always understand.
Over time, I realised this wasn't just one family's experience. I spoke with parents of autistic children. Adults rebuilding their lives after a stroke. People living with cerebral palsy. Families supporting loved ones with dementia. Different stories, different circumstances, but often the same challenge: the need to be understood.
Because communication is about far more than words.
Independence.
Choice.
Comfort.
Connection.
Dignity.
Aidova started with a simple question:
What if communication could be easier?
Not easier for technology. Not easier for systems.
Easier for the person trying to be understood.
Today, Aidova continues to be shaped by the people who use it every day — families, carers, teachers, therapists, and individuals finding their own voice in different ways. Since then, we've spoken with parents, carers, teachers, therapists and adults with communication challenges to shape every part of Aidova. Every conversation teaches us something. Every piece of feedback helps us improve. And every time someone can say what they need, how they feel, or who they love — we're reminded why Aidova exists.
